A cooperative is a collective organization that offers housing to its members. Every member is a tenant of an individual housing unit. The members’ participation in the management and maintenance of the building contributes to the reduction of operating costs and therefore lowers the rent.

Non-profit housing is a subsidized housing project for specific populations: seniors, families or individuals.
