Project Genesis is seeking an intake worker for its Individual Services Centre (Storefront) under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Only candidates between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) can be considered. The contract is for 8 weeks at 35 hours/week. The pay is $18/hour.
Project Genesis’ Individual Services Centre supports community members to defend their tenant rights and access social programmes such as social assistance. After training and under supervision, the intake worker will welcome community members seeking support by phone and in person, evaluate the urgency and level of support needed, provide information and references, arrange for appropriate follow up by other staff, and carry out other reception related tasks such as answering the phone, taking messages, data entry, and ensuring the availabilty of information documents in the waiting room.
Requirements:
- bilingual (French and English), other languages an asset;
- an interest in social justice issues;
- attentiveness to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well under pressure while remaining patient, ability to function both independently and with a team;
- community sector volunteer or paid experience is an asset.
