Project Genesis is seeking a community counsellor under the Canada Summer Jobs Program for its Individual Services Centre (Storefront). Only candidates between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) can be considered. The contract is for nine weeks at 30 hours/week. The pay is $18/hour.
Project Genesis’ Individual Services Centre support community members to defend their tenant rights and access social programmes such as social assistance. After training and under supervision, the community counsellor will provide information and references and support the service user to defend their rights in accordance with our services.
Requirements:
- bilingual (French and English), other languages an asset;
- an interest in social justice issues;
- attentiveness to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a quick learner, work well under pressure, ability to analyze complex information and to function both independently and with a team;
- community sector volunteer or paid experience is an asset.
