Permanent Position, Four Days per Week
Project Genesis, a community organization with over 40 years of activism and social solidarity in Côte-des-Neiges, is seeking applicants for a permanent, four-day / week position in our Individual Services Center as Intake Worker. The Individual Services Center supports community members to defend their rights as tenants and to access social programs such as social assistance and pensions.
Salary: $25.00 to $28.50 / hour, depending on relevant experience and education.
Main tasks
- Actively listen, identify specific needs, and evaluate urgency and level of support needed, by phone and in person
- Provide basic information, resources and referrals
- Arrange for appropriate follow up by other staff, volunteers and student advisors
- Perform other tasks relating to intake and reception such as answering phones, taking messages, data entry
- Update, supplement, and ensure availability of information materials in the waiting room
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and French; other languages an asset
- Familiarity with Microsoft office
- Ability to work under pressure while remaining patient, respectful and compassionate
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to rapidly assess and prioritize complex situations
- Experience with community groups and directly supporting community members
- Commitment to social justice, dignity, and autonomy
