Project Genesis serves the needs of the community and relies on the support and involvement of community members to accomplish our work. Here are some ways you can get involved.

Storefront

Storefront volunteers work in very close collaboration with Project Genesis staff to provide legal information about tenants’ rights and help community members access social programmes. Empathy, good communication skills, and a non-judgemental approach are essential to this role.

Home Advocacy Services

Home Advocacy Services volunteers help vulnerable, home-bound individuals access social programs and exercise their housing rights. HAS volunteers should have a non-judgemental approach, good communication skills, be mobile, and be willing to report back frequently to a Project Genesis staff member.

Community Organizing

Community Organising (Housing Rights and Anti-Poverty committees, Outreach,  and more) volunteers work with Project Genesis staff to bring community members together to fight for better housing for all and eliminate the structural causes of poverty. Together, we organize and participate in actions, do popular education and community outreach, engage in lobbying, and more.

Internships

Each year, Project Genesis provides opportunities for law and social work students to gain invaluable on-the-ground experience while receiving academic credit. We accept a limited number of college-level and university-level students.

If our work interests you and your school provides internship possibilities, consider applying for one of these positions through your school!
